Travis Eckersley

Travis grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania, graduating from Lackawanna Trail High School. From there he attended Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with dual concentrations in accounting and finance, as well as a minor in history. After his undergraduate studies he worked in public and corporate accounting for several years before resuming his education at Delaware Law School at Widener University where he earned his Juris Doctorate. Following law school he worked as the Assistant Public Defender for Wyoming County. He is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania.

Joseph O’Brien and Travis Eckersley recently successfully defended a local social welfare organization that offers representative payee services. A client of the company was a resident at a local personal care home prior to her death. The payee’s estate sued the personal care home and her representative payee for alleged abuse that occurred at the nursing home prior to her death. The court dismissed the claim against the representative payee on the theory that the duties of a representative payee did not extend to the insuring her safety at the facility where she was placed.
